Paradise Project - Pavilions in the Park (Sites 16a, 16c, 16e, 16f)
A major element of the Paradise Project is the new look to Chavasse Park which will provide one of the city's principal green spaces. It terraces up from Strand Street, culminating in a series of pavilion buildings on a grand terrace.
The Pavilions in the Park will be sculptural and striking in form and design. They will allow stunning vistas out to the waterfront and, to the Anglican Cathedral.
The pavilions will be up to three storeys of restaurants and shops and their design offers the potential of a central performance area.
They will be constructed mainly from glass and steel some elements of more solid treatment such as granite or Portland Stone may be introduced and used as contrast.
