Paradise Project (Site 10) - John Lewis Store

John Lewis are building a major new department store building at the corner of Canning Place and Paradise Street as one of the anchor stores for the Paradise Project.
The new 280,000 sq ft store - a fifth bigger than John Lewis's current home in Liverpool will be housed in a four storey glass-fronted building.
The design of the new shop is based on Peter Jones store in London's Sloane Square. It will have three floors of retail space that will include a third-floor restaurant and coffee bar with views across Chavasse Park. The site also provides views down Paradise Street, South John Street and New Manesty's Lane.
The western edge of the building is cantilevered and there is a striking canopy on the roof.
A bridge links the first floor into South John Street and on the second floor there is a link to the Price Street multi-storey car park. There is also direct access from a basement car park via a lift and escalator.
Work is expected to be completed by Summer 2008
