Paradise Project (Sites 4A, 4B & 4C) - Duke Street Retail and Residential

The Paradise Project aims to retain existing buildings where appropriate and this development - three groups of properties in the Duke Street Conservation Area - is a good illustration of this concept.

Buildings are being retained along with sensitive new infill buildings and a sympathetic refurbishment of the buildings on Paradise Street.

The architects' response to this site has been complex and detailed in keeping with the nature of the context of the development.  The frontage of the Eagle pub, Paradise Street is to be rebuilt while retaining some original facade features.  Other improvements include refacades along Hanover Street combined with exciting side wall treatments.

The detailed uses are as follows:

  • Site 4A - - 75-81 Paradise Street: Ground floor shops and pub with ancillary or residential accommodation above
  • Site 4B - 11-17 Hanover Street. Existing business will be retained along with gallery uses in Hanover Galleries.  The ground floor of 15-17 Hanover Street will be retail use with residential above
  • Site 4C - 19-25 Hanover Street. Stanley Building is to be refurbished and remodelled to provide specialty shops on the ground and lower ground floors.  Residential or business use above.

Work is due to start in summer 2006 and be completed by 2008.
