The Matchworks Phase 2 & Matchbox
The Matchworks development - site of the former Bryant and May factory in Garston - has been a highly successful venture by Urban Splash
The first phase was completed in Autumn 2001 and has been fully let since then as it now houses the state-of-the-art call centre Vertex and conciliation service ACAS. The building today employees over 1,000 people,
Now a further 700 jobs will be created following completion of the second phase on the 17 acre site. 86,000 square feet of quality office space has been added - meaning the whole development contains 250,000 square feet of commercial and workshop studio space.
The last phase involved the refurbishment of the 1948 building with office accommodation at the upper ground floor level in self contained units and light industrial space at the lower ground floor level.
Fronting the site on Speke Road is a spectacular new three storey office building - the Matchbox - providing 18,000 square feet of Grade A office accommodation.
A further 420 car parking spaces have also been provided, bringing the total number on site to 780 spaces
This £7million development, supported by the NWDA and the European Objective One programme, was completed at the end of 2007.
A further phase, to be known as "The Matchstick" is proposed for completion in 2009/2010.
