Tithebarn Street - CCMS Project

Tithebarn Street going fully two way for certain traffic from 27 February 2006The Tithebarn Street phase of CCMS will reduce unnecessary traffic on Dale Street and provide an enhanced link between the Cultural Quarter and Pier Head.

This £3m scheme was primarily a highway engineering and public realm improvement project although it also will provide an additional cycle path along Hatton Garden.

Work involved footway and carriageway realignment with high quality resurfacing, landscaping and public art implementation.  A new traffic management system with improved signage, traffic lights, line markings, pedestrian crossings and cycle path were all introduced.

The scheme was completed in February 2006.

It forms part of a package of works in City Centre North which will allow the closure of the Churchill Way South Flyover as well as improving the capacity of the highway network along Byrom Street and its junction with Hunter Street, and Leeds Street.
