South Parkway Transport Interchange

South Liverpool Parkway

Allerton Interchange has been redeveloped to combine the resources of two train stations, making it the only Liverpool station outside of Lime Street capable of handling cross country services.  Within months of opening, a new half hourly service to Birmingham opened - relieving the pressure on Lime Street.

The Department for Transport has made the station a mandatory stop for the East Midlands franchise, between Liverpool and Norwich, as well as the West Midlands route through Birmingham.

The facility also includes a new bus interchange, creating stronger transport links for the local area and wider city with a shuttle service to the nearby Liverpool John Lennon Airport every 10 minutes.

The new interchange, now known as Liverpool South Parkway, opened on 12th June 2006.
