The Paradise Project - Multi-Storey Car Park
A multi-storey car park with 580 spaces has been completed at Liver Street at the southern end of the Paradise Project.
This part of the project - between Canning Place, Park Lane, Liver Street and Price Street - also incorporates bus layover spaces and a taxi rank
An important and imposing building, the ground floor accommodates up to 18 bus layover spaces, an enclosed taxi rank and car park entry and exits.
Three levels of parking sit above the ground floor with a further two smaller levels set back along the western boundary. It is of a very high quality with naturally ventilated parking decks.
A lightweight glass bridge connects the car park to the new John Lewis store.
In December 2005, research for AA Insurance rated the Liver Street Street Car Park as the second best multi-storey car park in the UK (only one in Kings Lynn beat it). A Top 10 list of the best car parks was compiled by motoring guru Kevin Beresford, who said "The new Liver Street Car Park oozes class and is adorned with steel Venetian blinds and speedy external ramps. Although it is quirky to look at car parks, there is a serious side because safety and comfort come into it. The better planned and operated the car park, the less likelihood there is of the car being damaged or broken into. I believe the new Liver Street car park at Canning Place sets the standard for what all car parks of the future should be like".
