East Village (Blocks A and B)

Madison Square, East Village, RopeWalksEast Village is a dynamic and exciting development in the heart of Liverpool City Centre.  Developers Iliad and Miller undertook this revolutionary development project creating one of the UK's first Urban Villages.  This represented a unique and inspirational move forward in the creation of mixed-use living. Iliad and Miller have a wealth of experience within the North West and have been at the forefront of the City's renaissance.  They view Liverpool as a key area for growth, hence having chosen the city for this major residential scheme.

The concept for East Village - which has created 145 new apartments in a mixed use development - evolved from the wealth of history within its thriving locality. Echoing Liverpool's strong links with New York, both historically and now in the 21st century, the two cities are unofficially twinned.

East Village is located in Madison Square within the Rope Walks area, a traditional part of Liverpool's shipping heritage and once a haven for travellers to dwell, before emigration to the New World.  Liverpool, renowned as a leading 19th Century shipping port, displays its strong heritage through the streets of the city.  The legacy is apparent from the momentous buildings, the acclaimed dock area, and the very location of East Village standing resplendent within the core of an epoch-making quarter.

New York is reflected within the scheme reaffirming the synergy between these two cities. The project is very much a symbol of the future.  East Village also borders China Town, the oldest in Europe. The development offers panoramic views of some of the most spectacular architecture, including The Three Graces on the waterfront.  East Village also stands in the shadow of the largest Gothic Revival Cathedral in Britain, the monumental Cathedral Church of Christ.  The city's architectural treasures are a mere glimpse away.

Work was completed in 2003.
