East Moorfields City Centre Movement Strategy
East Moorfields was part of the first phase of streetworks to improve pavements, street furniture and traffic management.
Highlights of the scheme, completed in 2005, were Vernon Street and Hewitts Place, where a new pedestrian square was constructed at the northern end of the Travel Inn Hotel.
The Covent Garden and East Moorfields CCMS scheme subsequently won the National Transport Award 2006 (Pedestrian and Walking category). It was also highly commended in the LGN Streetscape Award 2005, and received a Civic Trust Award commendation in 2006.
