Berkley Place

Artist's impression of the new Berkley PlaceA new high-quality public square has been created in Liverpool 8 as part of an environmental improvement programme.

£240,000 has been invested in the square in Berkley Place - at the junction of Princes Road and Upper Parliament Street - to transform it from a concrete wasteland into a relaxing haven.

Improvements to the square have included a new seating area, improved lighting which will complement the CCTV cameras already in place, granite paving and, to add a touch of greenery, new trees, plants and shrubs have been planted.

The three month landscaping project, carried out by Liverpool based company Mayfield Construction Plant Ltd, was finished in the summer of 2005.

The revamp was part of the City Centre Environmental Improvement Programme, funded by the North West Development Agency and English Partnerships.
