One, Arthouse Square
A new public square in the Ropewalks area has been created as part of a scheme by Frenson limited.
One Arthouse Square has also involved the refurbishment of a conserved warehouse at 61-69 Seel Street, along with some new build, resulting in the creation of 30,000 sq ft. of office space.
New pedestrian routes produced by this development provide better linkage to the city centre and surrounding area. This new access is also beneficial for the new residential development and the retail, business and commercial developments. The new public square provides a place for outdoor leisure, for informal or organised events and will contribute greatly to a cleaner safer environment in that area.
The extensive development is part of a continued investment in Ropewalks and will contribute heavily to the regeneration of this area. Not only will this development make use of otherwise redundant resources but it will also contribute positively to the public spaces in the area, the environment and local economy.
Retail and Commercial businesses in the area will have a greater confidence in themselves and the area through the improved safety of the locality. The extra jobs brought into the area will also increase local trade along with returning locals and new visitors attracted to the area by the development.
The scheme was completed in August 2005.
