Traffic changes in Stanley Street
The lower part of Stanley Street next to the MET Quarter became two-way for taxis from mid-May.
Permitted traffic which has passed along Whitechapel from Church Street and the Cavern Quarter at certain times of the day will also be allowed to pass along this part of Stanley Street northbound only. This change will be permanent.
The repaving works, which are part of the Whitechapel Improvement Scheme, have now been completed. Completion of this work has now extended the pedestrianised area centred on the Cavern Quarter right up to the MET Centre.
The resiting of the taxi rank has allowed work on the remainder of the Whitechapel scheme to continue.
